Promoting his new book Black Self-Genocide: What Black Lives Matter Won't Say, Christian pastor Bishop Wellington Boone told Fox & Friends hosts Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade Wednesday that the Black Lives Matter movement gets it all wrong on violence in the black community: it is black Americans, not police officers, who are to blame.

Boone says in his book that inner city gangs are the real problem, not white police officers: "I am a Black American man. If I walk down the streets of any inner-city in America, I am in far more danger from people of my own race than from any White police. This is not a new phenomenon."

The bestselling author told the hosts that instilling a stronger sense of faith and family within black communities would help diminish the violence, and toward that end he hopes to rally fellow black pastors to help spread the message.

"Almighty God has ordained that this group of people would be a servant people who would know how to call out the will of God to a nation that really needs God right now," he said. "Here we are running to the government when we should be running to God."
