While cable news outlets went wall to wall with coverage of "a knife" found at the former estate of OJ Simpson, President Obama was rolling his eyes. As The Washington Post reports, Obama took a quick shot at the media over this latest obsession.
“I thought it might be useful to take a small break from the spectacle of the political season, and now I gather O.J.,” Obama said before talking about the latest positive employment report from the Department of Labor.
The president has frequently expressed his disdain for cable news. So did his gibe suggested that he had spent his morning secretly watching CNN, MSNBC or perhaps Fox News? The three networks spent much of Friday covering the recent revelation that a knife had been unearthed in the 1990s on the estate once owned by the former football star. The knife was only recently turned over to the Los Angeles police.
OJ Simpson was arrested in the death of his estranged wife Nicole in 1994 and acquitted in 1995. Simpson moved to Florida in the early 2000s. Even if the knife turned out to be a murder weapon, OJ could not be tried again for the murder. As TruthRevolt reported earlier, the knife has apparently been kept in the possession of a police officer as a souvenir.
