Obama Surprises College Reporters at White House, Lectures Them How to Vote Democrat

"If you care about climate change… you care about war and peace and refugees…"

On Thursday, President Obama crashed the White House's first-ever College Reporter Day, surprising a room full of delighted young journalists. And by surprise, we mean he shows up to the podium which just so happens to be set with his briefing notes.

After Press Secretary Josh Earnest feigned shock over Obama's sudden appearance, the president began his lecture on the importance of voting, more or less, Democrat.

Here's the moment every young adult in the room grabbed for their smart phones to tweet what was happening, courtesy of a very proud White House:

It wasn't lost on the president that he had the attention of a room full of eager college reporters whose fingers were jotting down every word, and so he capitalized on the free college press to promote all the recent work he has been doing on behalf of school loan debt. Smooth move.

Obama also took the opportunity to inform them of the important role they play in the country, not only as potential journalists, but also as voters. He reminded them how he began his political career as a community organizer who fought for a democracy of voter participation. With an obligatory nod to them being a part of any political party, Obama said they need to get out there and vote on the things that matter to them. To remind them what those things were, he offered these very Progressive suggestions:

"If you care about climate change, you care about college costs, you care about career opportunities, you care about war and peace and refugees, you can’t just complain. You’ve got to vote."
