The new NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll shows that Ben Carson is leading the pack over Donald Trump with 29% of the vote.
Trailing the retired neurosurgeon in the poll was Donald Trump with 23%, Marco Rubio with 11%, Ted Cruz with 10% and Jeb Bush with 8%.
Carson’s 29% is the highest any Republican candidate has polled in the NBC/WSJ survey to date, according to NBC News.
However, the poll was conducted before last week's presidential debate so the findings aren't reflective on any shift based on debate performance.
Another poll, the New York Times/CBS poll from last week also showed Carson as leading the GOP presidential line up, Carson registered with 26% of the vote and Trump with 22%.
The latest state specific poll from Monmouth University still has Trump in the lead in New Hampshire with 26% and Carson far behind with 16%. Rubio has surged into third place with 13% of the vote.
On the other hand, Carson still has a significant lead over Trump in Iowa with 32% compared to Trunp's 18%.
