On MSNBC's Morning Joe, panelists discussed the Democrats' shrinking advantage in the "gender gap" as campaigns that had a "singular focus" on birth control is "backfiring."

NY Times journalist told Joe Scarborough and Mika Bryzinski that the Udall race in Colorado is a perfect example:

“Mark Udall is really on the defensive about making his race so much about birth control and reproductive rights. He used to have a double-digit gender gap advantage with women. Now that’s shrunk to about nine point. And Cory Gardner, his Republican opponent, has a 20-point lead with men. So there’s evidence that some of this singular focus is backfiring.”

WaPo columnist Eugene Robinson chimed in that in Kentucky, Sen. Mitch McConnell has a one-point advantage over his Democratic challenger, Alison Grimes, due to his support among women voters in the Blue Grass State.
