A new CNN/ORC poll found that the scales have finally tipped against President Obama in perception of the current situation in Iraq, with more now blaming him for the current problems in the war-torn region than President George W. Bush.
CNN found that 44 percent now blame Obama's policies for the deteriorating situation in Iraq, with 43 percent still blaming Bush. Predictably, Republicans heavily blame Obama (75/13), while Democrats point to Bush with equal weight (79/14). The Independents, however, now blame Obama by a margin of 11 points, 48 percent of them blaming Obama while 37 blame Bush.
CNN also found that Obama's ISIS campaign is as unpopular as Bush's Iraq War in its worst days:
Americans are as dissatisfied with the U.S. military campaign against ISIS as they were during the Iraq War's least popular days, according to a new CNN/ORC poll released Monday.
And nearly the same percent of people blame President Barack Obama's policies for the current situation in Iraq as those who hold President George W. Bush responsible, the survey showed.
Overall, 44% say they blame Obama's policies for the problems in Iraq and 43% blame Bush; 11% say both are equally responsible.
Meanwhile, President Obama is continuing to boast that he has successfully ended the Iraq War and insists that his foreign policy has restored the United States' status to "the most respected country on earth."
