Tuesday, on On Morning Joe, Media Matters founder David Brock was called out for his pro-Clinton bias and personal hypocrisy for impugning the author of a new bombshell book on the Clinton Foundation.

Co-host Mika Brzezinski led in with a shot against Brock's preemptive dismissal of the book by highlighting that he has not even read the book (it's not available till May 5) and noting that Clinton's email scandal has made it impossible to really be certain about her actions during her tenure at the State Department:

BRZEZINSKI: I guess the first question is how can you push back? The book's not out yet and how would we really know if there was a true answer to the question if there's no emails that track anything?

Though Brock admitted, "I haven't read it," he nonetheless dismissed the book's credibility by accusing its author Peter Schweizer of nefarious motives and credibility problems.

Co-guest Mark Halperin, Bloomberg Politics editor, chided Brock for the tactic, highlighting the disingenuous and hypocritical nature of it:

HALPERIN: David, are you more interested in knowing whether the allegations, as laid out in the book, are true or impugning the author? ... Should we be focused on the truth or lack of truth of what [Schweizer] is saying rather than running through his bio. ... For instance, your bio is something some people consider controversial but when you put ideas forward we like to just talk about the ideas your'e putting forward, not revisit every thing you've ever done.

Brock said he would look at the claims in the book, but continued to try to turn the conversation back toward Schweizer. Brock ultimately argued that he believed the partnership with the book's publisher Harper Collins and three major media outlets (The NY Times, The Washington Post, and Fox News) was a big political conspiracy.

BROCK: I think this is a political put-up job, and I can smell it a mile away.

Brock said that Hillary's time in the State Department should be closely scrutinized, but co-host Mika Brzezinski once again pointed out that "[w]e kind of can't" because "the public record or at least be viewed by the State Department has been scrubbed."

Speaking of Emailgate: when the New York Times first broke the story of Hillary's use of a private email address during her time as Secretary of State, Brock appeared on Morning Joe to faithfully defend Clinton by charging the Times with irresponsible and sloppy reporting.
