Sixty-four-year-old Robert William Simet has a lot of conspiracy theories about Donald Trump, Russia, and ISIS. He also doesn't like his Senator Joni Ernst, whom he believes is a member of ISIS.
Simet apparently liked to talk about his political views while shopping at Harley-Davidson located in Pacific Junction, because an employee overheard him bragging that he "could kill" the senator. She called the cops, and the Mills County Iowa Sheriff's Deputy Evan York alerted the FBI in Omaha.
The man mentioned that he knew that Harley-Davidson had scheduled an event where Ernst was scheduled to speak and lead a motorcycle ride. He also said, "Everyone in the government needs to be killed off," and "I could kill her. They would kill me. It would not matter. I would win either way."
According to KETV, the officers took Simet into custody after looking into a purchase he made at the store. They pulled up his receipt and showed a photograph to employees who identified him as the man making threatening statements about the Senator:
"The safety of our elected officials is something that cannot be taken lightly," FBI Special Agent in Charge Randall Thysse said. "We appreciate those people who reported this to the proper authorities and the response from our partners at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa for their and swift action on this matter."
Last week, TruthRevolt also wrote about how 59-year-old Mark Prichard made threats against GOP Senator Jeff Flake at his office in Arizona. Seems like it's open season on Republican Senators.
