Latest CNN Poll Shows Trump Leading

Independents put him over the top.

The results of the nation’s latest CNN/ORC poll are in, and it might cause another coughing fit for Hillary Clinton.

Mediaite reports that despite the former Secretary of State’s $143 million fundraising haul in the month of August along, the polls, which tracked over September 1-4, shows her opponent Donald Trump taking the lead.

Trump now edges out Hillary by two points -- 45% to 43% -- among likely voters, according to CNN Polling Director Jennifer Agiesta. Independents apparently gave Trump this boost over Hillary: while 92% of Democrats support her and 90% of Republicans back The Donald, independent voters favor Trump 49% to 29%.

Among third party candidates, Libertarian and former New Mexico Mayor Gary Johnson is trailing at 7%, with Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party registering at 2%. Neither is anywhere near the 15% minimum support required for stage accessibility for the upcoming Long Island, NY presidential candidate debate.

The bad news for Trump, according to the poll, is that most voters still expect to see Clinton win in November, and 59% think she will be the one to get to 270 electoral votes vs. 34% who think Trump has the better shot at winning.
