A new USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times "Daybreak" poll reveals that as of September 14, 2016, Donald Trump has a nearly five-point lead over rival Hillary Clinton. 

The poll, according to the L.A. Times, tracks "3,000 eligible voters until election day" and is particularly noteworthy due to the fact that it accounts for voters who sat out the 2012 election, but who say they plan to vote in 2016.

One set of polling data, however, bears questioning. Note that the Times' poll reveals "likely voter" turnout on election day for both Democrats and Republicans is nearly neck-and-neck, with Democrats enjoying a slight lead (albeit within the margin of error):

As TruthRevolt reported previously, however, Democratic voter enthusiasm is palpably low this election season. With nary a "Hillary for President" bumper sticker or lawn sign to be found in even the bluest of districts (as the most visible, albeit unscientific, proof of this), we think the voter turnout for Democrats is likely to fall below what this poll predicts. 

Whether Trump's gained ground is due solely to Hillary's bad week in terms of her health episode and "basket of deplorables" comment, or is indicative of a general turn of the tide remains to be seen -- but the results nonetheless negate those who dismiss Trump's chances of winning the election out of hand.
