A Krispy Kreme located in Hull, England promoted an upcoming event for its Krispy Kreme Klub members inviting them to decorate doughnuts, advertising it as "KKK Wednesday." A company spokesperson quickly issued an apology after backlash poured in through social media.

The company's statement read: “We do believe this was a completely unintentional oversight on the part of our longtime franchise partners in the U.K. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience or offense this misstep may have caused our fans.” Assurances were given that the Hull location would take "greater precautions" with their promotional materials in the future.
The Krispy Kreme Klub is said to be unique to the Hull location and not a company-wide program.
