North Korean state media is reporting that Kim Jong-Un has ordered his military forces to ready the country's nuclear weapons in case of a "pre-emptive attack" as the leader is concerned about mounting pressures from his enemies.

According to Reuters, Kim's latest comments are likely a result of the U.N. Security Council's sanctions leveled against the authoritarian country just this week. They quoted him as saying:

North Korea should "bolster up (its) nuclear force both in quality and quantity" and stressed "the need to get the nuclear warheads deployed for national defense always on standby so as to be fired any moment."

"Now is the time for us to convert our mode of military counteraction toward the enemies into a pre-emptive attack one in every aspect."

This provocative rhetoric is par for the course as Kim has made threats like this recently, calling out South Korea and the United States as targets. Many experts doubt that North Korea missiles have the range to reach the shores of the United States. Yet, concerns have mounted over a recent claim that the country tested an H-bomb earlier this year, though the White House seriously doubts it's true.

But not everyone is taking this all in stride, as is noted in the Reuters report:

Johns Hopkins University's 38 North project, which monitors North Korea, said recent commercial satellite imagery showed new activity in the isolated country including a convoy of trucks at its satellite launch station that could be preparations for a rocket-engine test.

"One possibility is that these vehicles are returning from a delivery of supplies, fuel, or even engine components for testing to the stand," the report said.

In February, North Korea launched a long-range rocket into space carrying what they claimed was a satellite -- something the U.N. declared a clear violation of past bans on ballistic missiles.

Yet it seems obvious that Kim Jong-Un isn't all that deterred by sanctions or resolutions. That won't stop the Obama administration from penning another harshly-worded criticism and aiming it directly at his inbox.
