Shaun King is high-profile figure in the #BlackLivesMatter movement, a "justice correspondent" for liberal website Daily Kos, and a recipient of an Oprah Winfrey scholarship to attend Morehouse College, given only to black men. But according to recent allegations, King is really just a white guy.

Breitbart has teamed with blogger Vicki Pate verifying her findings that despite King's insistence that he was born of a white mother and black father, both his parents are indeed Caucasian:

King has been lionized by the press, praised as hero of civil rights and social activism. He has written extensively about a childhood in which he was terrorized by “decades old racial tensions.” He claims to have been “the focus of constant abuse of the resident rednecks of my school.”

Yet, in recent weeks, rumors have been circulating about his ethnicity. A 1995 police incident report lists Shaun King’s ethnicity as white. And blogger Vicki Pate, who has been assembling forensic accounts of Shaun King’s background and family tree on her blog, “Re-NewsIt!,” has published her findings.

She claims that King is entirely white and says a birth certificate, which Breitbart has since independently acquired from the Kentucky Office of Vital Statistics, names a white man as his father.

And according to the report, it's not just King's identity that isn't adding up, but also many of his other claims, including being the victim of a hate crime. If all of this sounds familiar, it's because of the Rachel Dolezal hoax from a few months back. She was able to climb to the top of her local NAACP pretending to be black. And King has done the same becoming a rising voice in the black social justice movement. Perhaps his zenith is fooling the great Oprah Winfrey into giving him money to attend a historically black college.

But now that his cover is slowly being blown, it appears as if he is already softening his claims of a biracial upbringing, but not yet fully denying them. As Breitbart notes:

King must have known while giving interviews as late as 2015 that Vicki Pate was tracking down his family history. But he continued to deliver craftily-worded answers to interview questions that gave the impression he was a person of color and that he had been the victim of hate crimes.
