Jewish organizations have announced the first of a series of public protests to be held at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan to demand that David N. Myers, the organization’s CEO, be fired for his support of a boycott of Israel.
Activist organizations JCCWatch.Org, and Americans for a Safe Israel (AFSI) will protest on Wednesday, September 27th at 6:30 p.m. EST outside the organization’s New York City headquarters. As Truth Revolt has reported earlier, Myers has expressed support for a boycott against Israel.
“There is no room in American Jewish leadership for anyone who supports a boycott of Israel,” said Richard Allen, Founder of JCCWatch.Org:
"We plan a series of protests, along with an advertising campaign to demand the public firing of Mr. Myers as President and CEO of The Center for Jewish History. Anyone who sits in a position of leadership for the New Israel Fund, J Street, and If Not Now, When is not a fit candidate for any position of Jewish leadership. The Jewish community will not remain silent with Jewish leaders who harm Israel. We will also actively speak to donors of this institution and demand they stop supporting this organization."
Although not officially participating in the protest, the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) issued a statement which details at great length its objections to Myers heading the Center. "After investigating David Myers’ anti-Israel agenda-driven 'history scholarship,' other writings, affiliations and involvements with anti-Israel organizations, and his anti-Israel activities at UCLA, the ZOA is convinced that David Myers should not head the Center for Jewish History ('CJH'), and should be removed from this post," it begins.
