Jessa Duggar Labeled 'Victim Of Christian Homeschooling'

"She should have our sympathy."

A blog posted by Michael Stone on Patheos.com railed against reality TV star Jessa Duggar of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting, calling her a "victim of Christian homeschooling" that is "bred to promote an ugly, intolerant, sexist, and homophobic brand of Christian extremism."

Now married, Jessa Seewald, 22, posted a lengthy message on Facebook that was based on her faith; it disturbed Stone because, in his words, it basically "tells liberals they will burn in Hell."

Here is her post:

Stone was sure that Seewald's beliefs are sincere, but that was about all he had to say that was nice. He wrote:

Jessa’s imaginary god is a moral monster to be feared, a nightmare of reason that would punish some supposed temporal and finite failing with eternal and infinite punishment. Yet reading her post, one gets the distinct feeling that Jessa enjoys this irrational drama immensely. Indeed, the Duggar family has come to be a symbol of the ignorance and hatred associated with conservative Christian extremism.

And that wasn't all. After Stone chastised the Duggar family for its stance against the LGBT community, he also attacked their involvement in the Quiverfull movement, linking to a site that criticizes the movement for being "radically pro-life." For Stone, this daughter in the Duggar family is not her own person; she is a victim and deserves liberals' sympathy:

Ultimately Jessa is a victim: a victim of Christian patriarchy, a victim of Christian homeschooling. As a product of the Quiverfull movement, Jessa was raised to be cannon fodder in a Christian Holy War. As such, she should have our sympathy.
