This one is pretty rich.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has been tapped to present a “fight the system” trophy at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards. Waters has emerged as one of the most vocal anti-Trumpers in the federal government since the inauguration and is the leader of the impeach Trump movement (even if she doesn't like to admit it). Perhaps that’s why she was approached by the former music television cable channel.
But it’s clear the irony is completely lost on them as the 78-year-old Democrat has been a congresswoman for 27 years and has been a public servant for nearly four decades. If anything, she is the system.
Waters’ social media accounts have been attracting millennials because of her impeachment rhetoric as well as when she adopts their language, telling them to “Stay woke.”
The “Best Fight the System” category for the awards show this Sunday evening will include the nominees for the film all about "white evil" Get Out, along with Hidden Figures, Loving, and will include the TV shows Luke Cage and Mr. Robot, according to The Hill.
Yes, Maxine Waters, privileged one-percenter — fighter of the system and for the little guy. That's about as good a joke as MTV itself.
