Howard Dean: Obamacare Written By 'Elitists'

"The core problem under the damn law is it was put together by a bunch of elitists who don’t fundamentally understand the American people."

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday, former Democratic National Committee chair Howard Dean weighed in on the “lack of transparency”/”stupidity of the American voter” comment by Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber. The problem with the law, Dean explained, is that it was written by “a bunch of elitists” out of touch with the American people.

After Morning Joe played the clip of Gruber’s now-notorious remark, co-host Mika Brzezinski turned to Dean for comment. Dean not only slammed Gruber, but all the "elitists" involved in writing the law:

The problem is not that he said it. The problem is that he thinks it. The core problem under the damn law is it was put together by a bunch of elitists who don’t fundamentally understand the American people. That’s what the problem is.

Of course, some may question Dean’s understanding of the American people too; as Mediaite points out, he is an ardent supporter of completely government-controlled single-payer healthcare.

Gruber apologized for the comments Tuesday, saying he "spoke inappropriately" and "off-the-cuff." However, Tuesday night, Megyn Kelly released yet another video showing Gruber making almost the exact same comment.
