Hollywood elitist George Clooney is offended that Donald Trump considers him part of the Hollywood elite. So, to throw the dirt back on Trump, Clooney has conjured an unoriginal idea and is now calling Trump... a Hollywood elitist.
This happened during an interview in France before Clooney received an honorary award at what amounts to the French Oscars. The pro-Hillary and “there will never be a President Trump” actor said it is very hypocritical for Trump to make the accusation he does:
“There’s a really interesting argument, this is the part that makes you a little crazy. When Meryl [Streep] spoke [at the Golden Globes], everyone on that one side was, ‘Well that’s elitist Hollywood speaking.’ Donald Trump has 22 acting credits in television... He collects $120,000 a year in his Screen Actors Guild pension fund. Uhh? He is a Hollywood elitist.”
See? Clooney’s done his homework.
The Daily Beast piled onto the defense mentioning Trump’s appearances in Home Alone 2, Zoolander, and Sex and the City, as well as his Apprentice shows as if to imply a few cameos in movies gets you in the Hollywood club. But then there’s Steve Bannon whose investment firm profited handsomely from Seinfeld over a syndication deal. Apparently, that and the fact that Bannon wrote a failed script once puts him at the top in Beverly Hills, too.
“Steve Bannon is a failed film writer and director,” Clooney continued. “That’s the truth, that’s what he’s done. He wrote a Shakespearean rap musical about the L.A. riots that he couldn’t get made. He made a lot of money off of Seinfeld. He’s elitist Hollywood, I mean that’s the reality.”
It’s Clooney’s job not to deal in reality, and he’s doing a pretty good job of that off-screen, as well.
