During a debate on the Department of Homeland Security funding bill Monday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said that the president "right" to determine who is and is not deported.
“The President has the right to determine who is to be deported, and the families of these DREAMers are way down the list,” said Reid.
Reid argued that by attempting to defund the president's executive amnesty program, the Republicans are "attacking families" who "pose no security risk" to the nation. The Republicans' plan, predicted Reid, was "destined to fail."
According to recent reports, Republican leadership is strongly considering de-coupling the DHS funding from the funding of Obama's executive actions on immigration.
