GALLUP: Sanders Surges, Clinton Sags

Poll shows Bernie moving up in favorability while Hillary drops

More Americans have an unfavorable view of Hillary Clinton than have a favorable view -- this according to the latest survey from polling powerhouse Gallup. The result is a change in fortune for Clinton but also shows a trend that has been building over several months.

Clinton's favorable rating dropped to just 43% in this latest poll, down from 48% in April while her unfavorable rating moved up to 46%. Meanwhile, Clinton's closest rival Bernie Sanders has to be happy that the American public is finally starting to figure out who he is. Sanders is now seen as favorable by 24% of those surveyed; his unfavorable ranking is at 20%.

While those numbers, positive and negative, are dwarfed by Clinton's, it is an improvement for Sanders with 44% now able to rate him, up from just 24% in March.

The numbers for other Democratic wannabes are fairly depressing. A full 77% of those surveyed said they had either not heard of or had no opinion of Jim Webb; 78% said the same about Martin O'Malley and 82% about Lincoln Chafee.
