A new Gallup presidential election survey found that out of 11 categories of candidates, Americans found a socialist to be the least electable. 

Over ninety percent of voters said they would vote for a Catholic, female, African American, Hispanic, or Jewish candidate in 2016. The numbers for a socialist, candidate, however, aren't nearly so hopeful. Voters from all three party affiliations say they'd cast a ballot for an atheist (58%), Muslim (60%), Evangelical Christian (73%), or Gay (74%) candidate before they'd vote for a socialist (47%):

The list of the least popular remains relatively consistent among Democrats, Independents, and Republicans, with socialist consistently dead last (59, 49, 26, respectively) and Muslim (73, 58, 45) trading second or third last with atheist (64, 61, 45). The biggest electability gap between Democrats and Republicans is over a socialist candidate, which Democrats said they would consider at a 33 percent higher rate (59/26), though still ranking them worst among the 11 categories. The second biggest margin is with a Muslim candidate, which Democrats say they'd vote for at a 28-point higher margin than Republicans (73/45):
