On Sunday, an entire CNN panel burst into laughter when vice presidential candidate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) said his running mate, Hillary Clinton, is totally transparent and accessible to the press.
Inside Politics host John King set up the clip of Kaine, saying, “God bless the people who get to be vice-presidential nominees because they have to say things like this.”
Kaine said:
“Look, I don’t see what the massive difference is between a press conference and talking to the press everywhere you go. She talks to the press a lot, and I’ve been with her when she’s talked to the press.”
“Uh-huh,” was the only response King could muster as the panel laughingly joined in his disbelief of Kaine’s naivety.
The proof is in the pudding. Clinton hasn’t held a press conference in nearly 300 days, and the press is champing at the bit to bombard her with questions. One of the panelists, reporter Sara Murray, said,
"As journalists, we want more questions. We want more press conferences, and we absolutely think that Hillary Clinton should be taking questions from the press regularly, which she does not do regularly. She does not hold press conferences.”
Murray complained that Donald Trump’s campaign isn’t very transparent either. The panel did agree that Clinton will break her streak and hold one or two press conference in the next few weeks leading up to the debates. Of course, this is the same press that will give her a pass and ignore her resume full of criminal activity.

However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
