California continues to descend down the tube into socialist hell, having just reached an agreement to hike the state's minimum wage from $10 to $15 an hour.
The proposal, backed by Democratic Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco, will go before the state Legislature following a deal struck with the labor unions Saturday.
"This is an issue I’ve been working on for many years," Leno told The Associated Press. "The governor and stakeholders have all been negotiating earnestly and in good faith for some time."
Should California approve the minimum-wage hike, it will become the largest statewide increase in the nation alongside Massachusetts and Washington.
Though the specifics of the implementation have not been laid out, the bill will most likely have the minimum wage rising about one dollar per year until reaching $15 an hour. As reported by Breitbart, "the wage will rise to $10.50 in 2017, to $11 an hour in 2018, and one dollar per year to take it to $15 by 2022. Businesses with fewer than 25 employees would have an extra year to comply."
Efforts to hike the minimum wage to $15 an hour have succeeded in cities like Seattle and urban areas of Oregon.
So long, California.
