Carson Loses Evangelical Vote to Ted Cruz

May spell doom for the former frontrunner

Ben Carson's campaign may officially be over, as his primary base  – Evangelical Christians – have shifted their support over to Ted Cruz, putting the once frontrunner in third place.

Carson's sudden freefall has been attributed mostly to his stumbles on foreign policy questions, which have taken center-stage in the current presidential debate due to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino.

The famed neurosurgeon also suffered major loss of support from the pro-life community after refusing to apologize for having past used fetal tissue from aborted babies in medical research and after characterizing the Teri Schiavo case as "much ado about nothing."

Carson also lost favor with pro-lifers when he accused the movement of "hateful rhetoric" after the recent shootings at Colorado Planned Parenthood.

A new national NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Donald Trump leading at 27 percent and Cruz trailing behind at 22 percent.
