Just when you thought politics couldn't get any weirder...
In a recent interview in New York, Caitlyn Jenner revealed he's at least considering running for office. “I’ve got way too many skeletons in my closet or would I be better working from the inside? If that is the case… I would seriously look at a run. It just depends where I could be more effective."
Though Jenner used to support President Donald Trump, that is no longer the case. “I believe in little things like the Constitution and freedom," he said, but that's not the only criticism he's levied at the President. On Twitter, Caitlyn recorded a video message "from one Republican to another," saying, "You made a promise to protect the LBTQ community. Call me."
Oooh.... are we really revving up for a Jenner versus Trump 2020? Gossip maven Perez Hilton loves the idea, so it seems that Caitlyn can count on his vote, at least:
"We can picture it now — Caitlyn banning ex Kris Jenner from the White House, Kendall and Kylie Jenner running amok in the West Wing, Kanye West performing at the Inauguration. Tell us that ISN'T a reality show you'd want to watch?"
The hosts of the daytime TV gabfest The View are enthusiastic about a Jenner run as well. On Wednesday's show libertarian co-host Jedediah Bila gushed, "What about? You are so good at this, this politics stuff, honestly. I’m a center-right girl and I want to vote for you. I mean, would you run for office? I'm serious!"
Again Jenner raised the point that his closet contains too many skeletons: "Every time I get off the stage, they all go, ‘Oh, my God. You should run for office,’ and I’m thinking in my head, I'm, like, ‘I got way too many secrets!’"
But now, Jenner continued, "I don't have one secret left. There is nothing left, okay?" That sounds like he's open to the prospect.
If Jenner did run for President successfully, he would be the first transgender president in American history.
