BLERG! Tina Fey Owes New York $79,000

The former SNL star and writer/producer/actress from 30 Rock owes New York state $79,000 for unpaid workman's comp.

Tina Fey, a friend of Democratic politicians and once a headliner for an Obama event during his campaign in 2012, has reneged on $79,000 of workers compensation. Fey is most well known for her impersonation of Sarah Palin saying "I can see Russia from my house!" on Saturday Night Live. On Friday TMZ reported Fey has not paid into the workers compensation program in New York state for over a year.

The Smoking Gun wrote this:

The March 20 judgment is in Fey’s name, not that of her company, which produced “30 Rock,” the NBC comedy starring Fey and Alec Baldwin, and is developing other TV and film projects.

Court records do not detail how state officials arrived at the $79,000 figure, though it represents “Awards and Penalties” levied against Fey for her “having defaulted in payment thereof.” In a court affirmation, a state lawyer noted that, “Appeals before the Board have been exhausted.”

Fey is a longtime admirer of President Obama and his policies. During the run of her NBC show 30 Rock, she loved to include liberal politicians like Al Gore (who appeared twice), New York City's former mayor Mike Bloomberg and characters who inaccurately and goofily portrayed conservatives as racists, bigots and homophobes.

There have been some statements about the potentially unknown and harmful affects the Affordable Care Act could have on workers compensation programs. One of them was not a celebrity forgetting to pay up though.
