Among the left's more popular scare tactics during the presidential election is to create hysteria around the fact that Donald Trump would have the "nuclear codes" if elected. The implication being that a person they allege is unstable, who angers easily, and who "lacks judgment," could just nuke anyone he does not like or who angers him at any time.
In fact, a Google search of the term "Trump nuclear codes" yields a quarter-million results -- mainly left-wing articles contemplating the dangers of a Trump-with-code-in-hand presidency.
Perhaps the only public figure to help Trump's image in this regard is Vice President Joe Biden, who never seems to miss an opportunity to botch a point he's trying to make.
Case in point: During a recent rally, Biden tried to drive home that Trump is neither qualified, nor shows the judgment needed, to "carry the nuclear codes."
"Someone who lacks this judgment cannot be trusted."
He then pointed to the "guy" who carries his nuclear codes for him.
"There’s a guy who follows me, right back here," Biden began pointing to a person on the periphery. "He has the nuclear codes."
"So God forbid anything happened to the president and I had to make a decision, the codes would be…" Biden's thought here remains incomplete before getting back on message:
“He [Trump] is not qualified to know the codes! He can’t be trusted!"
