The massive Bernie Sanders rally that drew 27,000 people to hear the socialist senator speak is creating controversy among the perpetually outraged left after one of the speakers that took the stage before Sanders denounced "corporate Democratic whores." It turns out that term is considered sexist and worthy of apology, reports NBC News.
The speaker, health care activist Dr. Paul Song, quickly apologized. "I am very sorry for using the term 'whore' to refer to some in congress who are beholden to corporations and not us. It was insensitive," he wrote on Twitter.
The comments were made long before Sanders took the stage but that didn't stop the Clinton campaign from calling for an apology.
Jennifer Palmieri, the Clinton campaign's communications director, called on Sanders to publicly denounce the remark. "Very distressing language to say the least," Palmieri wrote on Twitter, calling on Sanders to "disavow" the comment.
Sanders pretty much did just that on Thursday morning, responding to the remarks on Twitter:
Dr. Song's comment was inappropriate and insensitive. There's no room for language like that in our political discourse.

Angry voters on the Democratic and Republican side have been lashing out at politicians that have ties to Wall Street. Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton has come under fire for taking high six-figure speaking fees from some of the biggest players on Wall Street such as Goldman Sachs.
