According to an Army spokesman Thursday, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has been cleared in a sexual harassment probe regarding allegations from a female soldier at Fort Sam Houston, where Bergdahl held a desk job last summer while being investigated for desertion.

Local TV station KENS5 reported Thursday that the investigation into potential sexual harassment involving a female soldier conducted at Fort Sam Houston cleared him of any wrongdoing. One of the more notable details from the initial allegations was that Bergdahl appeared at the soldier's dorm room dressed in a gorilla costume:

Citing an anonymous source, KENS5 wrote that a female soldier complained to her supervisors earlier this year after Bergdahl allegedly put origami outside her door and visited her dorm room while dressed in a gorilla costume. She said "she felt Bergdahl was watching her from a distance, stalking her while she was on desk duty," KENS5 reported.

Following the Army's investigation of the allegations, Bergdahl and the female soldier met in person to discuss the situation, ultimately agreeing that it was all a "misunderstanding."

KENS5 received the following statement from Army North spokesman Lt. Col. Tim Beninato:

The Army takes any allegation of Soldier misconduct very seriously. When a complaint is made by or against a Soldier, commanders promptly review the matter and take appropriate action. Our command looked into an allegation back in February, determined that no disciplinary action was warranted, and promptly addressed it with the Soldiers involved. Since February, no further issues have been brought to the attention of this command.

Bergdahl was charged in March with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, for which he faces the potential of life in prison. His trial is scheduled to begin in July.
