On Andrea Mitchell Reports Monday, guest David Axelrod turned his sights on the Republican base, repeatedly describing them as “menacing.”

In Mitchell’s interview with Former Senior Advisor to the President, David Axelrod, the conversation turned to Ted Cruz’s and Sarah Palin’s participation in the Vet rallies this weekend. That’s when Axelrod unloaded on the Republican base:

If you looked up “chutzpah” in the dictionary, you would see Senator Cruz’s picture. Having started this whole thing, now going out and complaining about a government shutdown at a demonstration outside the white House.
