Alibaba Links Breast Size with Online Purchasing Habits

'We’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg'

The size of a woman's breasts has a direct link to her purchasing habits according to international online retail giant Alibaba.

For an online retailer to be most effective in driving sales and moving merchandise, they need to dynamically adjust the product offering to accommodate what the anticipated needs of the end-user happens to be. This is why you often see display ads on your Facebook page or other websites that seem to be specifically designed for your tastes. That's not an accident.

However, it seems Alibaba has taken this to a whole new level by equating the size of a woman's bra to her purchasing habits. Time magazine has more details:

Alibaba vice president Joseph Tsai talked to Quartz about findings that 65% of women with a B cup fell into the “low” spending category, while those with a C cup or higher were in the “middle” and “high” demographics.

“We’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg,” he said of the company’s data-dive. “We really haven’t done even 5% of leveraging that data to really make our operations more efficient, consumers more satisfied.”
