AC/DC Drummer Arrested for Attempt to 'Procure a Murder'

Faces charges for hiring a hitman, possession of meth and cannabis

According to reports, AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested Thursday morning by New Zealand police for “attempting to procure a murder” and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

The Waikato Times reports that the police charges accuse Rudd of attempting to have two men killed by a hitman. The names of the men involved have been suppressed by the judge.

[Rudd] appeared in the Tauranga District Court this afternoon, charged with attempting to procure a murder.

Rudd, 60, dressed in jeans and a grey sweater, said nothing during his short stint in the dock of the court, before being released on bail.

He entered no plea to the charges and will reappear in court in three weeks.
