Yoko Ono Makes Gun-Control Plea with John Lennon’s Bloodstained Glasses

All you need is blood.

Yoko Ono made a dramatic and possibly distasteful plea for gun control on the anniversary of the death of her late husband, John Lennon by posting a picture of his bloodied glasses.

On December 8, 1980, Ono and Lennon exited their limousine after a recording session and were walking up to their apartment in New York City when 25-year-old Mark David Chapman ambushed the couple and pulled the trigger of his .38-caliber revolver four or five times, killing the former Beatle as Ono cried for help.

Thirty-six years later, the story is still sad and obviously heartbreaking for the family and Beatles fans everywhere. But Ono took to Facebook to capitalize on the attention to push a gun-control message:

Taking a more somber approach to Lennon’s death was his son Sean Lennon who posted an old picture of his father and Ono on Instagram captioned with lyrics from a memorial song he wrote for his father: “I would do anything for one conversation with you ... seems like the whole world had more time with you than I did." Sean was only five when his dad was killed.

Ono has been very, shall we say, vocal on social media lately. She posted one of her infamous “art” screams in response to Donald Trump’s election. You may or may not want to turn down your volume, or just skip what’s below altogether:
