Six months ago, Washington Post opinion writer Dana Milibank was so confident that Donald Trump would lose the Republican presidential nomination that he vowed to eat the column on which he printed those very words.
Now with Trump the presumptive nominee, it looks like the crow has come home to roost.
Milbank, a TruthRevolt media hall of shamer, has begun asking for recipes and has procured a famous Washington, D.C. chef to prepare his column in various and delicious ways.
In October, Milbank wrote:
Trump will lose, or I will eat this column. I’m so certain Trump won’t win the nomination that I’ll eat my words if he does. Literally: The day Trump clinches the nomination I will eat the page on which this column is printed in Sunday’s Post. I have this confidence… Americans are better than Trump.
In March, Milbank was sweating bullets as the inevitable was approaching:
I promised to eat my column if Trump was nominated. What goes well with newsprint? Six months ago, I made a reckless vow. With Donald Trump dominating in polls, I said I’d eat a column — 18 column inches of toxic newsprint, wood-pulp, ink and all — if Trump won the Republican presidential nomination…
With the help of one of the capital’s great chefs — and seeking the guidance of you, the reader — I am taking the prudent step of preparing to eat my words in case Trump secures the nomination.
Milbank is preparing to open wide on May 12 and is asking for more recipes to be sent in:
The Freedom Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Therefore we do not endorse political candidates either in primary or general elections. However, as defenders of America’s social contract, we insist that the rules laid down by both parties at the outset of campaigns be respected, and that the results be decided by free elections. We will oppose any attempt to rig the system and deny voters of either party their constitutional right to elect candidates of their choice.
