Friday's Politics Nation with Al Sharpton took breaking news updates from suburban Denver, CO regarding a school shooting at a large high school. Sharpton welcomed MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry (you know, the woman who likes to wear tampon earrings) on the program to talk about the incident, and promote her weekend show. 

Claiming he did not want to "politicize" the latest school shooting Sharpton, without taking a breath, then brought up gun control laws. 

Sharpton said,

...certainly I don't want to politicize it, but you can't escape the fact that we are a year later tomorrow, after Sandy Hook, and when you look at the fact it's been a rough year for gun laws, gun reform in this country...

Sharpton then showed an NBC News poll saying that in January 2013, 56% of Americans supported gun laws, right after the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT. But, in December 2013 that number was down to 52%. He then asked Harris-Perry,

Is America just willing to accept these shootings as the new normal?

Harris-Perry responded that no matter what the challenges are, "we" must figure out common sense and bipartisan solutions.
