Schultz started his program attacking Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and former GOP vice president candidate for making a "deal" on the budget.
Ed Schultz has been against the Ryan-Murray deal from the start, often trying to argue that Democrats are not getting enough and saying the Tea Party will come out the winner.
Monday, Schultz decided he wanted to send a message to his viewers that he is on the side of the average American. He commanded the audience to look him in the eye as the camera zoomed in for a close-up.
Said Schultz:
When I say something, I mean it. When I say I stand with workers all across this country, I mean it. When I say I stand with the 99%, I mean it... I just want you to know that.
Schultz then went on to say that Ryan and Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) are playing a game with the American people and those on government benefits.
Maybe Schultz is worried about his image considering recent reports he is on the payroll of unions and owns private planes, like many in the 1% he often bashes. Later in the program Schultz accused Ryan and Republicans of doing deals "behind closed doors" despite never divulging to his audience that he is paid by the AFL-CIO while he welcomes their president, Richard Trumpka, on his show.
