Starting off the segment with a flood of animosity toward New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Schultz alleged that Bridget Ann Kelly and Christina Renna were "falling on their swords" for their old boss.
Schultz then played a clip from Monday's "Ask the Governor" segment on a local New Jersey station, where the Republican responded to the host regarding Kelly pleading the 5th and refusing to turn over documents pertaining to the George Washington Bridge closing. Christie said he was not going to be critical of the former staffer "exercising" her Constitutional rights.
Schultz used the comment as his launching point:
Who needs an attorney if you didn't do anything wrong? Of course the governor respects Kelly's rights. If Chris Christie was involved there's no doubt Kelly is protecting the governor.
Schultz offered no insights into how he could have "no doubt" about Kelly and her alleged protection of her former boss.
Schultz devoted a majority of his program Tuesday to Christie, later mentioning that Renna and David Wildstein might have been willing to protect Christie but are now probably looking for a deal.
