Desperately trying to stay relevant as America shifts gears into the era of Trump, MTV -- yes, it's still around -- has produced a stunningly tone-deaf, racist, sexist video titled, "2017 New Years Resolutions for White Guys," in which a gaggle of smug young unknowns give advice to "white guys" about how to "do a little bit better in 2017."
To the accompaniment of jaunty music designed to lighten the mood and soften the insulting message, several people utter offensive nonsense like, "America was never 'great' for anyone who wasn't a white guy." Is it really necessary to explain what a demonstrably false, America-hating lie that is? America has been a beacon of freedom and prosperity for countless millions of citizens and immigrants of all races and religions whose lives have been made immeasurably better here. But you can't see that if you have been indoctrinated by everyone from MTV to Beyonce to your college professors to believe America is a white supremacist oppressor.
Other smug, smiling youngsters lecture us on how much Black Lives Matter, but "Blue Lives Matter isn't a 'thing' because cops weren't born with blue skin." Ha ha! Hilarious!
Yes, Blue Lives Matter is most definitely a thing unless, again, you've been indoctrinated by everyone from MTV to Beyonce to your college professors to believe that America is a white supremacist oppressor and that white cops are waging a war on black people.
'Learn what mansplaining is," one nerdy chick lectures the viewer, "then stop doing it." How about you stop womansplaining things to men and we'll call it even?
"Just because you have black friends doesn't mean you can't be racist!" says another. Because we all know that white people are racist no matter what we do or don't do.
The video also includes a gratuitous swipe at Fox News to make sure we know MTV is targeting conservatives, because all white people are racist, Fox News-watching conservatives.
It concludes by urging white guys to do better because 2016 was so bad, by which we assume MTV means that Donald Trump's election victory ruined the year.
This video is nothing but virtue-signaling to like-minded young people, because who else is watching this? Does MTV think white conservatives are watching this video and nodding in agreement that we need to "do better" and be less racist? Does MTV think anyone is swayed by being called racist and sexist, even if it's done with a dose of purported humor? Pop culture idiocy like this is precisely why Donald Trump won.
So keep it up, MTV -- keep driving people into the arms of politically incorrect conservatism.
