A new poll shows that Donald Trump and Ben Carson have come to a tie in the race to receive the Republican nomination for president.
The Reuters/Ipso survey released Thursday shows that Trump leads Carson by only 2-points, roughly 29 percent to 27 percent, but they stand well within the 4.6 percent margin of error, making this race too close to call.
Trailing very far behind is former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 9 percent, followed by Florida Senator Marco Rubio at 6 percent. Senator Ted Cruz takes fifth place at just 5 percent.
Though Trump currently leads, Carson's odds of taking the nomination greatly increase when Cruz and Rubio are both knocked out of the running, showing that a majority of their support would shift over to Carson, most likely because of his deeply social conservative views.
Carson also skated past billionaire Donald Trump in a poll conducted by CBS News/New York Times poll earlier this week.
