On Fox & Friends Wednesday, Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) said he worries that Obama will attempt to be an “armchair general,” adding “you never tell your enemy what you will not do.”

Repeating some of the critique he gave on CNN Tuesday, Ryan told Fox that the president needed to accept this "this is war" and to get the American people behind the operation. But the most important thing for the president to do is to give the military their mission and then “stand out of the way and let them do their job.”

On CNN Tuesday, Ryan made many of the same remarks, saying that he did not believe we would be able to keep boots off the ground in the campaign and saying that while he supports the president's strikes on ISIS, he feared the president micromanaging and limiting our response:

No. 1, you should not telegraph to your enemies what you will not do. No. 2, define the mission, give it to the military, and then let them do their jobs and don’t armchair general these guys. That’s my fear with the president. Look, I’m supportive with what the president has done, going into Syria and Iraq, but we need to see this thing through.

Ryan clarified that he was not calling for a major ground war of "100,000 boots," but did believe that a smaller, targeted force would be necessary to succeed.
