Obama Dodges Iran Question: Focus on What 'Really Matters'

Like energy and climate change

At the end of President Obama's address Thursday to the Department of Energy about renewable energy and its impact on climate change, a reporter chimed in with a question about the nuclear talks with Iran. The president quickly let him know that the subject is off-topic and said the press should keep their "focus" on what he just spoke on because it "really matters."

The reporter was barely able to say the words, "The Iran talks…" before the president interjected:

I’m sorry, we’re talking about energy and it’s a great story. So, hopefully you’ll focus on it.

That's the end of the White House video, but the rest is preserved in audio via TopRightNews.com. Here is the rest of the conversation between the reporter and Obama as he left the room:

REPORTER: We gotta try, sir. [the room laughs]

OBAMA: This is a really important story.

REPORTER: And there are often more than one at a time, sir.

OBAMA: Yeah, but this one really matters.
