November Had Biggest Surge in Illegal Border Crossings

“The reality is they come to the borders and they are being released.”

The Department of Homeland Security released new figures on Thursday showing that November had its worst month on record with the largest number of illegal migrations across the southern border. Over 15,000 illegal aliens traveling as families were stopped by Border Patrol agents also making it the second worst month overall.

According to The Washington Times, there were an astonishing 7,000 children traveling without parents, but agents also saw an increase in aliens traveling as family units.

That has caused increase strain on border resources, as TruthRevolt previously reported. Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan says his agents have been turned into little more than babysitters for these children and to make sure their food is properly heated.

“It really is child care professional stuff that we’re doing: clothing them, feeding them, making sure that they get the medical attention, making sure that they’re able to sleep, making sure that they get appropriate meals during the day, make sure they have snacks, that meals are warm,” Morgan said. “Agents, one of their jobs during the day, is to make sure the burritos that are being provided are being warmed properly.”

The Obama administration credits violence and poverty in Central America as the reason for the mass migration north. Yet, the border agents note how many migrants have learned the system and have been told just the right words to say to gain access to the United States. Traveling as a family is the surest way to gain access.

Morgan said that “basically 100 percent” of the families caught crossing the border are let in the country.

“The reality is they come to the borders and they are being released,” he said. “What that does is it sends a strong message to those folks in the country that if you get to the United States border, we’re going to let you in.”

All eyes are looking ahead to 2017 which is predicted to be worse than this year’s numbers. In total, November saw a total of 47,214 illegal aliens trying to get in to the States. If that trend continues, expect even more records to be smashed next year.
