Morning Joe: Steve Rattner Demonstrates Why TV Footnotes Are So Tiny

The tiny footnote of Ratner's slide explains that the figures are approximations, and Jonathan Gruber, one of Obamacare's Architects, Created Them

During Wednesday's Morning Joe, financier and former Obama Administration "Car Czar," Steve Rattner was brought in explain and quantify who will be paying more for their health insurance under Obamacare. Ratner gave a clear explanation that would be quite impressive, if one didn't look at the tiny footnotes on the bottom of the slide.

The tiny footnote of Ratner's slide explains that the figures are approximations, and Jonathan Gruber, MIT Professor of Economics, created them. Dr. Jonathan Gruber served as a technical consultant to the Obama Administration and worked with both the Administration and Congress to help craft the Obamacare bill.

This is not to say the numbers are incorrect or even slanted, that would take additional research. But to be fair to their viewers, instead of presenting these numbers as somehow independent truth, Rattner should have told viewers that they were the best guesses of a man who helped to create the Obamacare bill.
