Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump told The New York Times Magazine that the most dangerous place in the world is Oakland, California.
Asked in the Times interview, “What’s the most dangerous place in the world you’ve been to?” Trump responded, “There are places in America that are among the most dangerous in the world. You go to places like Oakland. Or Ferguson. The crime numbers are worse. Seriously."
Mediaite noted that Oakland Libby Schaaf, the mayor of Oakland, responded on Twitter to Trump's accusation:
Let me be clear, regarding @nytimes story, the most dangerous place in America is Donald Trump's mouth.

Mayor Schaaf understandably felt compelled to defend her city, but she was unable to refute Trump's statement with actual facts and/or crime statistics; even Mediaite confirmed that Oakland has made it onto "a few recent lists" of the most dangerous cities in the United States.
