My how times have changed. After this weekend's horrific attack in London by machete-wielding terrorists, the city's Metro Police advised people on what to do if something like this happens again. So how do the police want Londoners to fight back? Well, by not:

Jon Gabriel over at Ricochet points out that this advice is in stark contrast to more old fashioned advice:

Regrettably, even recent history has proven that another incident like this will happen again. To American ears, this advice seems too much like cowering instead of fighting back. In fact, people on social media were less than enthused over the #RunHideTell advice. Some Americans offered a slight tweak to the language:

It's true. We're at war. A writer in National Review put it succinctly: "A nation that refuses to adequately protect its citizens does not love its citizens. Britain is a great nation, and there was a time when its greatness manifested itself in decisive and courageous force against the most terrible foes. There is much courage in Britain still. Will its government care enough about its citizens to unleash that courage against its mortal enemies?"
