Pop star Lady Gaga now claims the song "Angel Down" from her album Joanne was based on the death of Trayvon Martin.

Gaga made the announcement in an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, saying she felt overwhelmed by the supposed "epidemic" of innocent black teens being gunned down by racist police. So much for the bridging of art and Truth.  

"There is an epidemic of young African Americans being murdered in this country," she said, which is true except that the vast majority are being murdered by other blacks. "I was overwhelmed by the fact that people just stood around and didn’t do anything about it, and that the justice system continues to, over and over again, not seek justice for these families."

She went on to say how her black American fans tell her they're "terrified" and filled with "a paranoia that runs through their body, that they freeze up that they can’t think."

"This is a tremendous anxiety," she continued. "This is something I care about. This is something that has to stop, something we all need to heal from."

After lamenting that her white skin prevents her from fully understanding black Americans, Gaga then expressed how this new song is an attempt at artistic maturity, saying she couldn't "possibly make an album about twerking my ass in the club" while so many blacks were being shot down like targets in a shooting gallery.  

"When I go into the studio and I write, at this moment in my career, I can’t possibly think of, 'Oh, what would be just fun,'" she said. "We all [can’t escape the truth], no matter how much we want to just have fun. The more we mask the shame of this anxiety, the harder it’s going to be to heal."

If she wants to seek the truth, perhaps she could start by looking beyond the Black Lives Matter rhetoric and beyond the media narrative about white cops waging a war on black males.
