On Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden conducted the swearing-in of Senators in front of cameras and press and with no small amount of awkward commentary and uncomfortable moments. For all the weirdness, though, one moment really stood out, and left most of the internet crying out "I need an adult" for several hours. 

When Senator Chris Coons and family were the Vice President, "Uncle" Joe interacted with the Coons' teenage daughter in a way that made her cringe, and the rest of America along with her. The animated gif below comes from Imgur, under the headline "Uncle Joe Biden gets a little too touchy feely at the swearing in ceremonies today."

But it wasn't just Imgur and Reddit that needed to go to a happy place, reactions across the web were equally grossed out. At Mediaite, Matt Wilstein wrote:

We will likely never know what sweet nothings Biden whispered into the girl’s ear before trying to kiss her on the cheek as she pulled away, but we will have these GIFs, from a conservative super PAC and both left and right-leaning media outlets to marvel over for a long time to come:

Of course, this wasn't the only strange moment of the day. The gaffe-prone VP had more awkward interactions than an entire junior prom trying to dance to Marvin Gaye. PJ Tatler has a good list up, including these gems:

Biden said to Sen. Joni Ernst’s (R-Iowa) teenage daughter, according to National Journal, “How old are you? 15? I hope Mom has a big fence.”
He also mistakenly called Ernst “Gail” — her husband’s name. She quickly corrected Biden.
Caught by PBS: "Biden to blonde family member of South Dakota Republican Steve Daines: 'Hey Caroline, how old are you?' Later whispers to her brother, ‘Keep the guys away from your sister.'"

As he brought up his campaign staff to take a photo with the vice president, Biden holds on to the hand of an attractive Graham aide and pulls her to stand next to him for the group picture.

Twitchy compiled a number of tweets from reporters on scene catching candid comments.

And naturally, this isn't the first time Biden has left people feeling TSA'd. Note these two stories at the Blaze from 2013: one where he makes a crack about leg spreading, and one that is just ... well .. something.

Still, not everyone freaked. Dozens of conservatives on Twitter and Facebook pondered what would have happened had this been a Republican Vice President. There would surely be an outcry from the feminist left if Rush Limbaugh were to have given the kiss that launched a thousand winces. Not so for Joe. And MSNBC? Well they just think it's hilarious. Good old creepy Joe!
