Character actor James Cromwell, best known for his supporting role in a movie starring a pig, has emerged from a seven-day stint in the Big House even more determined to push for political activism in Hollywood, apparently because he believes that's going so well.
Cromwell was arrested along with other environmental activists at a controversial protest at a power plant in Wawayanda, New York in 2015 and was sentenced because he refused to pay a $375 fine (he was only recently made to serve the sentence).
Newsbusters reports that he subsequently gave an interview to the Daily Mail in which he expounded on prison, justice, climate change, and President Trump (because no celebrity interview is complete without getting the star's smug, uneducated take on current events).
He told the reporter, “Obviously, people now know that the police forces are corrupted. Do they know that their courts are corrupted? Do they know that their laws are corrupted?”
Here is Cromwell's philosophical perspective on the prison system, which he experienced for a whole seven days: “People have to start thinking of all human beings as having an intrinsic value.” Except for the unborn, of course; as Newsbusters notes, Cromwell has been known to fundraise for pro-abortion candidates.
As for President Trump, Cromwell delivered up the predictable leftist contempt: “It’s very easy to vilify an idiot who happens to be the president of the United States. We have to educate people.” Yes, because actors are so much more enlightened than the little people in the audience.
His advice to Hollywood? “This community’s got to get more political. Our survival as an industry… is at stake.”
Here's a tip, James: one of the reasons Donald Trump is in office is that out-of-touch, self-congratulating Hollywood elites such as yourself insisted on insulting and lecturing Americans throughout the presidential election campaign and even after the election. Pushing for more political activism is simply digging a hole deeper for yourself and your comrades. The industry's survival just might depend on all of you shutting up and entertaining.
