Hillary Skipping Clinton Foundation Event

Hillary Clinton will skip The Clinton Global Initiative event in Denver on June 8, titled CGI America, and there are some who believe that her absence from the conference is an attempt to put some distance between herself and the Clinton Foundation, which has come under attack in the new book, Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.

Hillary Clinton attended the June 2014 conference, which was also held in Denver, and participated in at least two sessions during the conference. This year, her husband Bill and s=daughter Chelsea are expected to attend.

Clinton Foundation spokesman Craig Minassian stated, "While Secretary Clinton is not planning to attend, CGI America will bring together leaders ... to address issues such as economic empowerment, education and skills development, and energy and the built environment.”

CGI America is a product of the Clinton Global Initiative and the Clinton Foundation.

Clinton resigned from the board of the Clinton Foundation after announcing her candidacy for the 2016 presidential nomination.

Clinton Cash, which has not yet been released, has been examined by The New York Times and Fox News; the Times reported that the book may trigger questions about the Clinton Foundation’s donations from foreign sources.

Nathan Gonzales, editor and publisher of the non-partisan Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report, had his doubts about Hillary Clinton’s decision to skip CGI America, saying, "I believe every minute and every event is methodically planned out and a candidate's presence or absence is for a reason.”
