Harry Reid Joins Far-Left Populist Campaign

"Being bold is the only way I've ever known how to win."

Semi-retired Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has officially signed on to the “Elizabeth Warren-wing” of the Democratic party by calling for presidential candidates to go even further left. Tuesday Reid joined more than 5,000 leftist Democrats in signing on to the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, a grassroots campaign which seeks to push the Democrat presidential nominee into more populist progressive stances.

"Being bold is the only way I've ever known how to win," Reid said in a statement announcing his enlistment in the campaign Tuesday.

The PCCC launched the “Ready for Boldness” campaign two weeks ago that is geared toward pushing the Democratic presidential nominee to support “bold, economic-populist ideas” such as “breaking up ‘too big to fail’ Wall Street banks,” debt-free higher education, and expanding Social Security benefits—essentially all the major policies Sen. Elizabeth Warren already promotes. The group has volunteers poised to attend campaign events and townhall meetings in the early-voting states to push candidates left.

While the progressives' preferred candidate Warren continues to say she’s not running, Hillary Clinton is expected to announce in the coming days. The group’s co-founder Adam Green says they hope to demonstrate to Clinton that an essential step in winning the presidency is earning the support of progressives by embracing populist positions.
